Attributes

A text object attached to a block to give more information about the block

Attributes are always part of a block definition

To simplify data entry and ensure a uniform appearance of text across drawings

Attribute Definition

1. Mode: Options for attribute values

2. Insert Point: Location for the attribute

3. Attribute: attribute data

4. Text Settings: Text properties

Mode

1. Invisible: Prevents attribute information from being displayed or printed

2. Constant: Assigns a fixed value to the attribute

3. Verify: Prompts for verification that the attribute value is correct

4. Preset: Sets the attribute to its default value

5. Lock position: Lock the location within the block reference

6. Multiple lines: Attribute value can contain Multiline Text

Attribute Area

1. Tag: A unique name for each occurrence of an attribute

            Required field, any characters except spaces

2. Prompt: Specifies prompt to displayed

3. Default: default attribute value

4. Field: Displays the Field dialog box
