Custom Sheet Set Properties

Define custom properties to use as fields either for the entire sheet set or for individual sheets

Sheet Set - Right-click - Properties - Edit Custom Properties

Specify the name, default value, and owner of the custom property
Custom properties are grouped on the basis of property owner, by sheet or sheet set

When create a sheet custom property, this property is assigned to all the new and existing sheets in the sheet set

Using Attributes in Sheet Sets

Using attributes with field functionality in sheet sets automatically updates view labels, callouts, and title blocks whenever the sheet set or sheet properties change

A title block with automated data

Using Fields in Sheet Sets

Place text on your sheets that is capable of updating when sheet set or sheet property values change
Do this by placing fields in multiline text objects
Create an association between the text object and sheet set properties

Specific objects related to to sheet set elements or functions

Filename property associated with the multiline text object for a plot stamp

The plot stamp text always reflects the correct filename, even if the same drawing is saved with a different filename

Control the plot stamp on and off by using the Plot dialog box

Sheet Creation Properties

Select a folder to store your sheets in and the default template to use for new sheets

  1. Sheet Storage Location: Specifies the folder to store sheets - New sheet (Existing sheets in the sheet set are not affected)
  2. Sheet Creation Template: change the default template used for sheets

Setting Sheet Set Properties


  1. Name: Project
  2. Sheet Set Data File: the path and the name of the sheet set data (DST) file
  3. Description: sheet set description
  4. Model View: add and delete resource drawing locations
  5. Label Block for View: navigate to and select a drawing or a template that is either the block or contains the block that need to use for view labels
  6. Callout Blocks: add blocks to be used as callouts
  7. Page Setup Override File: override the existing page setups on the individual drawings

Sheet Set Properties

Determine the locations of the sheet template, sheet storage, page setups, and blocks for view labels and callouts

Contains the Sheet Set properties, Project Control properties, Sheet Creation properties, and Sheet Set Custom properties if created

Sheet Selection

As sheet sets grow in complexity 复杂性, can use sheet selections to simplify the process of selecting multiple sheets for publishing or transmitting

Create

Hold Ctrl key to select the sheets in-continuously

Sheet Selections - Create

Specify a name for the sheet selection

Activate

Select the Sheet Selection

Manage

Rename or Delete the Sheet Selection


Importing Layouts as Sheets

Import additional layouts from other drawings as sheets for the sheet set
Right-click the sheet set / subset - Import Layout as Sheet

Browse for Drawings - select the drawings containing the layouts to import
Click Import Checked to import the selected layouts

If a layout is currently being referenced in a sheet set, it is not available for import

Creating New Sheet

Right-click a sheet set element / a sheet subset - New Sheet

Specify the sheet number, sheet title, and the name of the file that contains the layout from which you are creating the sheet

Renaming and Renumbering

Sheet

Right-click
on the Sheet - Rename & Renumber Sheet

1. Change the Sheet Number
2. Change the Sheet Title
3. Change the associated File Name
4. Changes the layout name to match the sheet title
5. Changes the drawing file name to match the sheet title
6. Locates the previous sheet in the sheet subset
7. Locates the next sheet in the sheet subset

View

Right-click on the View - Rename & Renumber View


Reordering Sheet Set Elements

Reorder elements in a sheet set

Move the element to a new location or resequence groups of elements

Reordering sheets does not renumber them automatically

Model Views tab

Displays the locations of the folders and drawing files available for the current sheet set

3 model space views that can be used for the layouts

Can add or remove folder locations to control the drawing files that are associated with the current sheet set

Sheet Views tab

By Sheet

Displays only the sheets in the sheet set that contain named layout views


The named views appear in the list under their sheet

By Category

A category is a heading for an ordered list of views used in the current sheet set


Sheet List

Displays an ordered list of sheet sets, sheet subsets, and sheets


Can organize the sheets under headings called subsets

To access additional options, you can use the sheet set, subset, or sheet shortcut menus


Use the list at the top of the Sheet Set Manager to open or create new sheet sets

This is also called a Sheet Set List

Sheet Set Manager

Manage sheet sets, sheet subsets and the sheets, views, and models within a sheet set


Sheet Set Manager displays the available drawing sheets and sheet sets to help to organize, plot, and link information within the drawings

Creating Sheet Sets

Create a sheet set to contain all of the necessary layout drawings for a project

This reduces the time required to manage large numbers of project drawings

1. File - New Sheet Set

2. Existing Drawings



3. Specify a name, description, and location for the new sheet set


Store the sheet set data file in the top-level folder

4. Specify the folder and the drawings to be used in the sheet set


By default, all the drawings in the folder and the subfolders are selected

5. Adjust the Import Options as required



6. Preview the new sheet set


If the preview displays sheets or subsets that you do not want to included, click Back and clear the selection of subfolders and drawings, as required

Store the *.dst file and the sheet drawings in the same folder which is accessible by the users

Avoid using many layouts from the same drawing as separate sheets

Because only one user can access a drawing at a time

Auto Publishing


Automatically publish drawings to DWF files when a drawing is saved or closed

Saving Sheet List


Save the sheet list and settings in the Publish and Publish Options dialog boxes to a DSD file

Use the Load Sheet List option to load the DSD file, which restores the sheet list and settings

Publish Block Template Dialog Box

Select create, or edit an existing block template (BLK) file

Scan to Blocks
Check Exclude blocks without attributes
Check to select the blocks and properties to include blocks

Publish



Organize a set of drawings and create a paper set or an electronic drawing set easily and quickly
Offers additional options for choosing the types of data to publish to the DWF or DWFx file
Create multi-sheet DWF or DWFx files
Batch plot multiple drawings simultaneously


1. Review the sheet list to be published
2. Preview, add, remove, and change the order of sheets
3. Include a plot stamp to all non 3D DWF plots
4. Number of copies that should be plotted for each sheet
5. Select Plotter Named in Page Setup to batch plot
6. Set to include model tab, layout tabs
7. Set additional plot and plot-to-file options
8. Expand the dialog box to view more information
9. Publish the output

Autodesk Design Review


Optionally installed when installing AutoCAD 2009

Autodesk Design Review can open DWF and DWFx files

Both file types can be marked up but cannot be edited

DWF and DWFx Files

DWF

DWF (Design Web Format) is a read only file format enabling to share design data with people who do not have or need a CAD program

Anyone can download and install the DWF viewer program, or view the DWF file in common web browsers

DWF files can also be viewed and marked up using Autodesk Design Review

Benefit

  • Include block and block attribute information with the DWF file
  • Include hyperlinks to websites
  • Include sheet set and sheet information
  • Use the Sheet and Objects tab in the Properties panel of the Autodesk® DWF™ Viewer to view the extended information
  • Configure a drawing file to automatically update the DWF file each time it is saved using Auto Publish
  • Publish 3D design data to a DWF file


DWFx

DWFx is a file format which is XPS compatible (XML Paper Specification)

XPS compatible files are a native file format in the Windows Vista operating system

Publishing Drawings

The Plot command limits to plot single sheets at a time


Publishing enables you to more easily create multiple drawing and multiple sheet drawing sets on paper, or in an electronic format

Name-Based Plot Style Table

Create
1. Start Plot Style Manager


2. Double-click the file acad.stb

3. Form View tab - Add Style

4. Enter THICK - OK


5. Set the properties
  • Color - Black
  • Dither - Off
  • Lineweight - 0.7000 mm

6. Right-click "THICK" - Copy - Paste to create Medium Plot Style
  • Lineweight - 0.5000 mm

7. Right-click empty area - Paste to create Thin Plot Style
  • Lineweight - 0.3500 mm

8. Right-click empty area - Paste to create Screen 40 Plot Style
  • Screening - 40


9. Click [Save As] - "Typical - BW"

Apply
1. Start Layer Properties Manager


2. In the Layer Properties Manager, click the PlotStyle value for the layer TitleBlock

3. Select Plot Style - Typical - BW.stb - THICK


4. Repeat the same steps:

  • Wall - Medium
  • View Label - Medium
  • Furniture - Screen 40
  • Desk - Thin
  • DB - Window - Medium
  • Chair - Screen 40

5. Close the Layer Properties Manager - Preview
